Nobody asked you what you wanted your life to feel like. They told you what it needed to be.

Nobody ever asked you what you wanted your life to feel like.

They told you what it needed to be.

Get good grades. Get a stable job. Find someone reliable. Don’t take risks you can’t afford. Build something solid. That’s the blueprint most of us were handed — not as a suggestion, but as a description of what a reasonable, responsible adult life looks like.

Good advice. Mostly.

But here’s what that blueprint was actually built around: someone else’s fears. The fears of the people who raised you. What they were afraid of for you — instability, risk, disappointment — shaped what they built into the plan. Their anxiety became the architecture.

Which means the life you’ve been building has been optimised for avoiding what they were scared of.

Not for what you actually need.

It’s like moving into a house someone else designed for someone else’s life. The rooms are all there — functional, liveable, everything where it’s supposed to be. But there’s one room that’s just empty. Not locked. Not broken. Just never built. Because the person who drew the plans never lived a life that needed it.

You’ve been walking past that room for years. Maybe you don’t even register it anymore. It’s just the blank space in the house.

That blank room isn’t a flaw in you. It’s the part of the blueprint that was never yours to begin with. The part that got left out because nobody who designed the plan knew it was needed.

You don’t have to burn the house down. Most of it works. Most of it’s good. The structure is sound.

But you get to look at the blank room now. And ask what it was always supposed to be.

If you could finally build something in that room — what would it be?
